Diana Lakes' Correspondence from Wendy Reves, 1981-1983
Scope and Contents
Donated by Diana Lakes in 2008. Lakes' description of the content of the letters: "... Her [Wendy] husband had recently died and she 'opened up her heart' in those letters - writing about her life and her dreams of passing Emory's (sic) legacy on for posterity. She writes about her connection to Churchill, Paul Reynaud, Edward Molyneux and the stress of passing on important works of art, furniture, ect. to the Dallas Museum of Art. She writes about her sadness ans stress of inventorying much of what she and Emory (sic) shared 'for posterity'. There were a series of 7 letters. I only kept 6. The first letter was full of pain and heaviness of heart at losing Emory (sic). I couldn't bear to keep it."
