This collection contains the records of Robert M. Murdock, Curator of Contemporary Art, 1970-1978. Murdock was the first contemporary curator and first specialized curator at the DMFA. The collection contains primarily subject-based files, which have been arranged alphabetically by subject. One notable subject is the Art Rental Program's transition to management by the Museum League in 1971.

The collection consists of records from two collections: an unprocessed collection of Murdock records; and records separated from unaccessioned general curatorial files during processing [This group of curatorial files was packed from filing cabinets in the telephone room.]
