Scope and Contents
Carolyn Sortor Papers consist of records of her work and association with the board of the Video Assocation of Dallas (VAD) and Dallas Video Festival as organizer, and the board of The MAC. Papers include board minutes, contracts, fund raising, and printed materials. The Sortor papers also include records related to her curation of two shows at Conduit Gallery in conjuction with the Dallas Video Fest: I heart video art (2007) and The Program (2008).

Abstract
Carolyn Sortor Papers consist of records of her work and association with the board of the Video Assocation of Dallas (VAD) and Dallas Video Festival as organizer, and the board of The MAC. Papers include board minutes, contracts, fund raising, and printed materials. Collection covers 1994-2010.
Arrangement
Creator kept papers in two groups: The MAC and VAD. The two series were maintained, with administrative material for the VAD series arranged generally alphabetically, with the 2007-2008 Video Fest material chronologically at the end.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Collection is a gift of Carolyn Sortor. Papers retrieved by Hillary Bober on 11 March 2013. An initial inventory of expandable files was completed for deed of gift. Papers were accessioned with box lists 27 November 2017.
The collection was acquired by the DMA Archives as part of the DallasSITES (history of contemporary art in Dallas, 1963-present) research project (2011-2013).
Processing Information
An initial inventory of expandable files was completed for deed of gift.
Additional description/notes were added for DACS compliance and ArchivesSpace local usage guidelines in 2021.
