This collection contains records documenting the work of the Charles Venable, Curator of Decorative Arts. Venable held this position from 1986-2002, while also serving as Chief Curator and Interim Director in the later years of his tenure. The collection includes records on acquisitions, loans, gallery installations, Friends groups, curatorial projects and departmental work.

Departmental transfer from Kevin Tucker, Curator of Decorative Arts, received in 2018. Venable's records were separated from the Tucker records (2018-15) to form this collection.
