DMA Public Relations Records
Scope and Contents
This collection contains records from three Public Relations (PR) department staff: Ellen Key (Communications Coordinator/Press Relations (already hired as of 1996)-2003); Michelle Blieberg (PR Director, 2003-Summer 2006); and Jill Bernstein (Director of Public Relations / Director of Communications and Public Affairs, October 2006 to present). The collection includes records from 1984-2013, with the bulk of materials from 2003-2008.
PR Administration Files contain non-subject specific records, such as committees and consultants, general PR planning, and other projects assigned to PR.
PR Subject Files include acquisitions, exhibitions, DMA-related people, programs and events. Files may contain news clippings, press releases, press preview information, specific PR plans, and reference/project description material.

Abstract
This collection contains records from the Public Relations (PR) department covering the time period from 1984-2013, with the bulk of materials from 2003-2008. The collection includes administraive files such as committees and consultants, general PR planning, and other projects assigned to PR; and subject files on acquisitions, exhibitions, DMA-related people, programs and events containing news clippings, press releases, press preview information, specific PR plans, and reference/project description material.
Arrangement
The collection is arranged in two series: PR Administration and PR Subject Files.
PR Administration Files are arranged alphabetically by folder title and topic.
PR Subject Files are arranged by alphabetically by subject with subheadings for people and programs. A small section of gereral information files is filed before the full alphabetical sequence. Exhibition subject files filed after the main alphabetical sequence and are arranged by year of exhibition opening and alphabetically by exhibition title within each year.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Departmental transfer from Kimberly Daniel and Jill Bernstein, PR department, received September 2012.
Appraisal
Fourteen cubic feet of records were transferred to archives from Jill Bernstein's office in September 2012 by Kimberly Daniel and Jill Bernstein. Two additional boxes of PR material from Ellen Key already in archives were added to this processed collection.
Separated Materials
Three boxes of audio and video material were separated and transferred to the media collection.
Processing Information
The collection was processed upon transfer due to the large quantity of duplicate, draft and non-permanent material in the collection.
Collection processed by Hillary Bober; processing completed 4 December 2012.
Additional description/notes were added for DACS compliance and ArchivesSpace local usage guidelines in 2022.
